Experience Level: Advanced Beginner

Class description: Learn all of the tricks you need to make this phase of knitting fun instead of frustrating. In this three-hour workshop, we will cover sewing seams, knitting shoulders together, picking up stitches, weaving in ends, blocking, and buttonholes. New to this class: I have added a few tips I learned while studying with Jean Wong, Nihon Vogue Certified Knitting Instructor.

Supplies needed:
Smooth, light colored worsted-weight yarn and three sets of needles; one, the size used for knitting your swatches; one, one size smaller; and one, one size larger.

If you don't have the sizes, don't worry. You can still learn the technique. Bring a blunt yarn needle, curved tip if you have it.

Homework:
Knit seven swatches as follows:
· Two swatches in stockinette, two swatches in garter (four total). Cast on 10 stitches and knit for approximately 6 inches.

· Fifth swatch: Cast on 25 stitches, knit in stockinette for approximately one inch. Starting with a knit row, bind off 10 stitches, knit across row then purl back. Next row: Knit 1 then decrease 1 stitch. Knit across, purl back.
Next row: Repeat previous row twice more. Work even for another two inches and bind off.

· Sixth and seventh swatch: Cast on 10 stitches and knit for 1-2 inches; place on stitch holder.

Experience Levels

Beginner: Student can do basic knit and purl but still feels a little shaky.

Advanced Beginner: Student can do basic knit and purl and feels more comfortable knitting and is looking to do something beyond scarves.

Intermediate: Student can follow knit patterns with little assistance.

Advanced: Student is familiar with most knitting techniques.

Experience levels are listed for your information. In no way do I want to limit you to a "label." If you really want to do something, your particular skill level should not limit you. It may be more difficult, but with a small class size or private lesson, and going at a slower pace, nothing is impossible.
