Using Nihon Vogue Techniques (Taught by Caryn Ackerman)
Listed below are classes I am teaching using and adapting Nihon Vogue Techniques I learned from Jean Wong, the only Nihon Vogue Certified Instructor teaching in North America.

Think of the classes as a series of building blocks. Each class extends your knowledge from the prior class. For those of you that are not interested in learning it from the ground up, I will offer a few classes highlighting techniques or a certain project. You are the designer; we start with body measurements, a gauge swatch and the yarn you wish to work with.

These classes are for beginners to experienced knitters. They have something for everyone. I hope you will enjoy learning the new techniques as much as I did.

Class size is limited to 3 students. In most cases, I will not list dates as I will continue to start classes on an ongoing basis as I receive the required number of sign ups. Class dates and times will be determined by the students enrolled in the class.

Class 1 – Round Neck Pullover Vest
6 classes, 3 hrs each – 18 hours total · $180
Project will be finished by class end. See supply list for details.

In the future I will be offering Round Neck Cardigan, V-Neck Cardigan, and Design Your Own Sweater classes. Classes 1 and 2 will be prerequisite.

I have been lucky to enlist the help of Sondra Meith, a highly qualified instructor and international lecturer & past director of training at a private fashion school to teach an introduction to color theory analysis, body/line proportion and chart your own full size body chart.

Sondra is offering four new seminars, Color Analysis Theory, Body Proportion Analysis, Clothing Styles and Structure Analysis, and Personality Transitions and Wardrobe Planning.  These should be taken in order for maximum effectiveness, but seminars 2 and 3 may be combined.  Seminar 1 needs to be taken prior taking Seminar 4.

Note:  The following classes do not have scheduled dates. If you are interested in taking these seminars, please contact Caryn at caryn@carynsknitandspin.com. When enough people are committed to a class, Sondra will schedule one.

Color Analysis Theory (Taught by Sondra Meith)

Private Color Consultation · $25

This seminar introduces color theory as it relates to the individual's specific coloring (skin, eyes, and hair) and demonstrates the effect the correct color palette can have on your overall appearance.

Registering for a class
Class registration is on a first come first serve basis. Once registered, you may cancel up to 7 days before class begins for a full refund. If you cancel later than that, I will issue a refund if I am able to fill your spot. If I cancel a class for any reason, I will issue a refund.

Special Request classes are always welcomed. Get that special group together and I will be glad to teach what you would like to learn. The cost for special request classes is $10 per hour per student (for at least 2 students).

Experience Levels

Beginner: Student can do basic knit and purl but still feels a little shaky.

Advanced Beginner: Student can do basic knit and purl and feels more comfortable knitting and is looking to do something beyond scarves.

Intermediate: Student can follow knit patterns with little assistance.

Advanced: Student is familiar with most knitting techniques.

Experience levels are listed for your information. In no way do I want to limit you to a "label." If you really want to do something, your particular skill level should not limit you. It may be more difficult, but with a small class size or private lesson, and going at a slower pace, nothing is impossible.
